Inflammation a Response of Your Body to Acne Culprits

First “inflammation” is a word derived from the Latin and it literally means “to set on fire”. Inflammation is actually a safeguarding attempt by the body to expel hazardous bacteria, virus or foreign substances and to trigger the healing cascade of events that eventually leads to the repair of cell lesions or damaged tissues.

When inflammation occurs, toxic compounds from the body’s white blood cells are released into the blood or tissues in an attempt to rid the body of foreign substances. This release of chemicals increases the blood flow to the area and may result in redness and warmth. Some of the chemicals cause leakage of fluid into the tissues, resulting in swelling.

Abstract: Licochalcone-A, Polyol Soluble Licorice Extract P-U (now in the market as Licochalcone LR-15), prepared from the roots of Glycyrrhiza Inflata Batalin shows several activities such as inhibitory actions of testosterone 5 ALPHA-reductase, lipase and phospholipase A2, as well as androgen receptor antagonist, antimicrobial and SOD-like antioxidant actions, which relate to skin care, especially the suppression of acne formation and development.
